Lunatic 3D Printing Metre long Blue Sovereign
So the Blitz Panther is no longer the only of my Zoid designs to exist in the real world.
Travtron 3D Printing has started on a giant Blue Sovereign model that is so large it needs to be built in sections. Measuring at almost one metre in length, it will be a sight to behold. Once he let me know of his plans, I couldn't help but make the most of this opportunity, so I've remodelled parts of the whale to allow for some articulation.
The mouth, fins, guns and engine pods are all separated, with rudimentary joints built in to allow for some posing.
The head alone took 24 hours to print on his Prusa Mk2.5S FDM machine, out of Eco Tough PLA Pearl. At a 0.2mm layer thickness, this scale really allows the details to pop.
Once the build is complete and we can be sure we've ironed out the kinks, I'll release the updated STLs for anyone else that wants to try it. Alternatively SLS and SLA processes should be able to build to the resolution required at much smaller scales. If you want the original, non-articulated STL right away, find it here.
I'll keep you updated as this project develops, but for now, you can find more progress photos on the Zoids Discord!
