Redscout Update

Over the last isolated weekend I've started detail modelling the Redscout MkII. Focusing mainly on the head.
This is the second stage of modelling. The first is blocking out the shapes, this stage is adding in representations of all the details. Vents, grooves, more refined curves etc. The third stage will be all the really fine details like edge fillets. It's good practice to split it up like this so you can fix mistakes more easily. It's much easier to re-align five vertices than fifty.
This is a good time to start UV-ing as well. Although it is a mind-numbing chore no matter what stage you start, you can make it significantly less mind-numbing with this strategy. Here you can see all the nice detail going into the head/neck joint. It feels strong while still allowing a lot of flexibility.
It's good to check your model from every angle. A model can look fantastic from the side but derpy from the front. Fortunately I think the Redscout is holding up quite well.
I'm quite pleased with the under-armour design. You'd be surpised how much of it you see between the gaps in the armour, so it's good to make it make sense. Also opens up the potential to have battle damage shots in future animations!
